Used Rental Bikes for Sale: Kids' Raleigh Mountain Scout

We are updating a small part of our Towpath Trail Bike Rental fleet in the Century Cycles store in Peninsula. We have a limited number of used bikes for sale.

The used model that we are selling is the Raleigh Mountain Scout kid's bicycle. We have FIVE of these available.
These bicycles feature 24-inch wheels, which is the right size for most children 7 to 12 years old. The lightweight aluminum frame has a low step-over height that works well for both boys and girls. Reliable rim brakes and twist shifters handle the stopping and gear changes. Three of the bikes are 21-speed models, and two of them are 7-speeds. The bicycles have been cleaned and given a full tune-up by our professional mechanics. Price is $100 each.

To purchase one of these bicycles, stop in to the Peninsula store at 1621 Main Street, Peninsula, Ohio 44264. The bikes are available for you to take home immediately! Used rental bikes are sold AS-IS.

Blackburn Click USB Taillight -- works great on your helmet!

Blackburn Click USB rechargeable taillight
Last winter, I was looking for a light that would be practical to put on the back of my bicycle helmet, to give me a little extra visibility by drivers coming from behind. I use the Planet Bike Superflash USB Taillight, attached to my Topeak MTX Explorer Tubular rear cargo rack using the Planet Bike Rear Taillight Bracket.

You can attach most taillights to a helmet using a basic zip tie cable, but then removing it for recharging or replacing the batteries becomes a hassle.

Then I came across the Blackburn Click USB rechargeable taillight. It's got an angled base that makes it work well on your seat post:

As it turns out, that angle also makes it ideal for attaching to the back edge of a bike helmet!

The light has a stretchy rubber strap that makes it easy to attach and remove as needed. It also includes a micro-USB charging cable. You get a 20-lumen light that burns for 3 hours on a charge (in flashing mode), or 1.5 hours (in steady mode), and recharges in 3 hours!

Buy online, or at all three Century Cycles stores!

If you'd like a slicker, more integrated solution to the helmet+taillight problem, the Compel and Roost helmets from Giant Bicycles, and the Luta and Lanza helmets from Liv Cycling all have a magnetic port in the rear, which fits the Giant Numen+Link USB Tailight! All also in stock in our stores!

New and Improved: Our suggested road bike routes

Krista's Ashtabula County Covered Bridges Ride
The "Where to Ride" section of the Century Cycles web site has been a useful resource for a number of years, for both new and experienced bicyclists alike. We have a full list of bike paths, mountain bike trails, and road cycling routes throughout Northeast Ohio.

We have recently improved the road cycling routes section, with updated maps using Ride With GPS. Previously, we posted our road biking routes using Map My Ride and Garmin Connect. Ride With GPS features a much more user-friendly design, allowing you to print cue sheets for a ride, or download the ride information to load into your own GPS device, all without having to log in or create an account.

We have routes available near each of our three stores:

In addition, the "Where We Ride" section contains some of the favorite routes of our staff, including Krista's Ashtabula County Covered Bridges Ride, Kevin's Twinsburg-Garrettsville Loop, and Cathy's Smith and Jones Parks Tour.

Please look for and heed this standard disclaimer on all of our road cycling routes pages:

Your use of this route information indicates your acceptance of all responsibility for its use. Ride safely, legally, and responsibly, and respect private property. Accessibility and suitability of roads and trails may change due to factors beyond our control; check local conditions before proceeding.
