Towpath Trail construction update

New Towpath Trail bridge as seen from behind the Boston Store Visitor Center
As you can see from the photo above (taken Wednesday, May 16, 2018), work is progressing on the new bridge on the Towpath Trail near the Boston Store Visitor Center. Our sources tell us that the bridge will be open for use by the public on schedule on by June 1. Please note that until the trail officially re-opens, the bypass trail through the overflow parking lot is not open nor accessible to the public; that area is in use by construction crews and heavy equipment.

The news is not as good for the three bridges south of Peninsula, between Deep Lock Quarry and the Hunt House Visitor Center. Excess ground water is preventing the construction crews from being able to pour the concrete footers for the bridge supports. So, the re-opening of the trail south of Peninsula will probably be delayed.

Please note that this is all through-the-grapevine hearsay; see the Cuyahoga Valley National Park's web site at www.nps.gov/cuva for official Trail Alerts & Updates.
