CVNP receives $100,000 grant to help complete East Rim mountain bike trail

The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park is pleased to announce news of a $100,000 grant, which they received from the S.L. Gimbel Foundation Fund of The Community Foundation in California. The grant will fund completion of the East Rim mountain bike trail, as well as a sustainability assessment and restoration of existing trails.

The first 2.3-mile phase of the East Rim Trail opened last fall. The Gimbel Foundation Fund grant will support Phase 2 of the project, which will measure approximately 6.5 miles when complete. Park trail crews and volunteers will work through the year to complete the project, with a goal of completion in December 2017.

Grant funds will also be used to hire a youth work crew, which will work next summer to assess and help restore some of the park's existing trails, using Sustainable Trail Design methods.
